Lifting hook: the key "gripper" of industrial lifting

In various industrial scenarios, from towering tower cranes at construction sites to giant cranes at port terminals loading and unloading containers, lifting operations are ubiquitous. As a key connecting component between lifting equipment and lifting goods, the lifting hook plays an indispensable role like a "gripper" in the industrial field.

How to choose a lifting hook correctly?

Consider lifting capacity: This is the primary factor in choosing a lifting hook. It is necessary to accurately evaluate the maximum weight of daily lifting of goods, and then select lifting hooks with a rated lifting capacity higher than this value. For example, when frequently lifting 5 tons of heavy objects, a lifting hook with a rated lifting capacity of at least 5 tons, or even with appropriate margin (such as 6-8 tons), should be selected. Overloading is strictly prohibited to avoid serious safety accidents.

Suitable for working environment: If the working environment is humid, dusty, or even contains corrosive media, such as ports, docks, chemical workshops, etc., special surface treatment (such as galvanizing, coating with anti-corrosion paint) should be used for lifting hooks, and corrosion-resistant alloy steel can be considered as the material. If working in high-temperature environments such as steel plants and casting workshops, it is necessary to choose high-temperature resistant lifting hooks to ensure that their strength is not affected at high temperatures.

Suitable lifting method: Different lifting methods determine the type of lifting hook required. Single hook operation is simple and suitable for situations with small lifting capacity and relatively regular lifting of items; Double hooks have strong load-bearing capacity and are commonly used for heavy lifting operations; C-type hooks are specifically used for lifting coils and sheets; The rotating hook has significant advantages in complex lifting environments that require frequent adjustment of cargo angles.

Hook material and size: In terms of material, high-strength alloy steel hooks can be used for general lifting operations, which have excellent strength and toughness. For special working conditions, specific alloy steels can be further selected. In terms of size, it should be determined based on the size and shape of the lifted object to ensure that the hook opening can firmly accommodate the connection part of the object, and that the length and other dimensions of the hook body will not interfere during the lifting process.

Safety standards and manufacturer reputation: It is necessary to choose lifting hooks that comply with relevant safety standards (such as ISO, ASME and other international standards, or corresponding domestic standards) and have passed authoritative certification. At the same time, priority should be given to manufacturers with good market reputation and rich production experience, as their product quality and after-sales service are more guaranteed.
